Home Energy Assessment
For a home energy assessment including Scorecard we’ll send you an introductory email seeking more information about your current energy use and appliances to help us prepare for the site visit and also confirm the day, date, time and address. If possible we’d like you to forward that information to the assessor prior to the house energy audit visit.
Depending on the size of your home, the site visit will take 1-3 hours. We start with a discussion about the issues you’d like to solve, a quick tour and then you can get on with your day while the assessor starts the energy assessment inspection of the building and appliances.
They will need to enter every room. Please ensure pets are secured during this time. After the inspection we have another discussion going over the main points and recommendations.
After the site visit, the assessor will finalise the Scorecard details, write a detailed, prioritised report and send it to you within 5 days.
NatHERS Assessments
For NatHERS assessment, our assessor will arrange to access your house plans and complete the process off- site, delivering your report within 5 days.
Blower Door Testing
For blower door testing, the blower door tester assessor will book a day and time with you but this testing needs to be done on days that are not too windy otherwise the results may not be accurate.
The home energy audit blower door test involves preparing the home by closing all the outside doors and windows, opening all the internal doors, turning off ducted air conditioning devices and fans.
If you have a wood heater or open fire, this needs to be completely out before the test can be done.
The temporary door panel is set up in one of the external doorways with its in-built fan and the gauge is connected to the computer.
Most commonly, the blower test is performed in depressuriation mode where the fan blows air out of the home and replacement air comes in through all the gaps and cracks.
The formal test is done according to international standards and takes about one hour. During that time the doors and windows need to remain shut. People can be inside or out!
After the test, the assessor will discuss the blower door tester results, point out the gaps and will send the written report within 5 days.
Thermal Imaging
For thermal imaging, it is best if there is a 10C temperature difference between outside and inside. Hot or cold days are often perfect but for mild days you can run the heater or cooler device for a couple of hours prior to the test to improve its effectiveness.
Magnetite Secondary Glazing
For Magnetite secondary glazing an assessor will arrange a no obligation appointment to measure, quote and explain how the soundproofing windows system works.
If you choose to accept the quote we’ll arrange the retrofit double glazed windows installation as soon as possible. This is almost always a two stage process on separate days.
Underfloor Insulation
For underfloor insulation an assessor with arrange a no obligation appointment to measure and quote (unless this has been done as part of the home assessment process).
We use R2.5 Bradford Polymax underfloor polyester rolls from Polyester Solutions, which are stapled in place to the floor joists.
To keep our installers safe there will be times we need to turn off the power to the home during the installation. An average home can be completed in 1 or 2 days.
Draught Proofing
For draught proofing we use the blowerdoor to quickly find the gaps and cracks and then use a range of products to seal these. We are the only team in Gippsland able to provide an accurate before and after assessment of air tightness.
Although our experienced team can usually spot the problem areas before the blower door test starts, we often find hidden, unexpected gaps that can make a big difference to the end result.
For this reason we prefer to invoice based on labour time plus materials used basis rather than over quote to cover unexpected work. This is the best value for our customers.
Older homes with many gaps make require our team to work all day while smaller, usually newer homes may only require half a day or less.

Underfloor insulation
Underfloor insulation
Timber floors can have a natural beauty but they can feel cold in winter and warm in summer. This results in more heating in winter and more cooling in summer. Under floor insulation installation is crucial in helping keep temperatures even. We use R2.5 polyester rolls, stapled between the floor joists suitable for timber floored homes with at least 40cm of clearance.
Polymax polyester rolls are made by CSR Australia from minimum 40% recycled plastic bottles. This underfloor insulation is non-toxic and non-irritant without the need for gloves, specialised equipment or glass splinters embedded in your skin
If it gets wet, it will dry out and not need to be replaced, plus polyester insulation is a non-flammable material.

Single glazed windows are the weakest link in your building shell. Vastly improve their performance and your comfort by adding a second layer of acrylic sheet at a fraction of the cost of double glazing with secondary window glazing.
